Networking sessions

Join the networking events for opportunities to share, discuss and introduce yourself to fellow delegates. These will take place for approximately 1 hour after the closing remarks on Tues, Sept 21 and Wed, Sept 22.

Social Networking Session

Tuesday, September 21 | 12:15-1:15 PM PDT
Meet your fellow delegates, and join us for an exciting social speed networking session!

Here are some suggested topics to start your conversations:

  1. Introduce yourself by describing the most interesting place that you have visited.
  2. Introduce yourself by describing what you studied at school or college.
  3. Introduce yourself by describing what you would like to do during your next vacation.
  4. Introduce yourself by describing your first job and your current job.
  5. Introduce yourself by describing what you wanted to be when you grew up and what you are doing now.
  6. Introduce yourself by discussing why you decided to join the mining industry.

How to join?

  1. Sign into the Whova app.
  2. Go to the Agenda, and search for the speed networking session’s name at the end of the day on Tuesday, September 2021.
  3. After the speed networking session starts, click “Grab a seat”, and you will be assigned to a speed networking table.

Technical Networking Session

Wednesday, September 22 | 7:05PM – 8:05 PM PDT
Join us after day two’s sessions to participate in the facilitated Technical Networking Hour. Choose from 3 of the 9 technical networking topics below:
• Topic 1: Education and capacity building
• Topic 2: Stakeholder engagement
• Topic 3: Prediction techniques (Laboratory and modelling)
• Topic 4: Water quality monitoring and predictive modelling
• Topic 5: Mine planning and building better landforms
• Topic 6: Developments in Tailings
• Topic 7: Innovation in treatment
• Topic 8: Pit lakes and water management
• Topic 9: Mine closure and residual risk

When you enter the networking room, you will be prompted to choose to visit your first topic via the list of breakout rooms. Every 20 minutes you will be prompted to move to a new room. The networking time will run for a total of 1 hour, allowing you to visit 3 of the 9 topics provided.

How to join?

  1. Sign into the Whova app.
  2. Select the “Community” tab on the left menu bar for the desktop version or the bottom bar of the mobile app.
  3. Once in the Community tab, scroll to the top and select “Meet-ups & Virtual Meets” and “RSVP” to the Technical Networking Event.
  4. Once you have RSVP’d and the networking time is available, you can join the virtual meeting space and network!
