Virtual ICARD 2021 | Meeting Challenge through Innovation

September 21-23, 2021

As part of the International Network for Acid Prevention (INAP) mandate to proactively lead global best practice in acid and metalliferous drainage (AMD), it provides the initiative and leadership to deliver an International Conference on Acid Rock Drainage (ICARD) every three years.

As a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the 2021 ICARD conference scheduled to be held in Brisbane in September 2021 was postponed until 2022. The time gap between gatherings was considered by INAP’s Board and Operations Committee to be significant in terms of losing connections with industry and maintaining momentum for advancing the state of practice. To address this gap, INAP is proud to host a virtual conference September 21-23, 2021.

The theme of the 2021 ICARD was “Meeting Challenge Through Innovation”. What better way to frame the first virtual ICARD event, but through the lens of challenge and innovation. The virtual event will host industry leaders to discuss how mining companies are changing their practices and what is in the innovation pipeline to tackle AMD going forward. Drawing on the years of experience in the sector, presenters will also provide a retrospective on how innovation in AMD has evolved and what can be learned from the technologies and processes.
